Night Court: Melissa Rauch plays Harry’s daughter on the NBC Sequel Series

Melissa Rauch swaps her lab coat for a judge’s gown: The Big Bang theory alum will appear in NBC’s upcoming sequel to Night Court as the daughter of Judge Harry Stone, according to our sister site Deadline.

The sequel, which first released in December and is close to piloting, will star Rauch as Abby Stone, the daughter of Judge Harry Stone who was played by the late Harry Anderson in the original NBC comedy from 1984-92. (Anderson died in 2018.) Abby is described as an “unapologetic optimist”. She is a judge herself and takes on the role of her father who directs the cemetery relocation at a Manhattan court case.

The new night court will also bring back original co-star John Larroquette in the role of smarmy prosecutor Dan Fielding. Larroquette won four Emmys in a row for the role from 1985 to 1988.

Rauch is best known as the squeaky-voiced scientist Bernadette on the hit CBS sitcom The Big Bang Theory, who joins the cast in season 3 and is promoted to regular series the following season. (Bernadette had a love interest in Simon Helberg’s Howard Wolowitz, and the two married in the season 5 finale.) Her other TV credits include True Blood and Black Monday.
