Demise Cab for Cuties Ben Gibbard will get his personal signature Fender guitar

Death Cab for cutie front man Ben Gibbard worked with Fender to create his own signature guitar. The Ben Gibbard Mustang is modeled after a version of the classic Mustang from the 1970s, recreating its go-to-touring model with custom modifications. It features an ash chamber body, a 3-way rotary switch for the pickup and a solid hardtail bridge.

“As a kid, I always wanted to own a fender, but I couldn’t afford one until much later,” Gibbard said in a press release. “It is a dream to design my own signature model. I’ve owned a lot of different guitars over the years, but my Mustang models have always been my favorites. Creating a custom version that is a replica of what I play on stage was an opportunity I never missed. I wanted to create something that mimicked all of the enhancements I made to my live instruments, something that was easy to take off the shelf and all of it was intuitive. Perhaps that player wants to sing and play guitar at the same time, or they just want to play a guitar that makes it easier to navigate the sound. “

Fender Products EVP Justin Norvell added:

“Ben Gibbard’s unique guitar style has helped define a genre and we are excited to have this opportunity to work with him and bring his signature sound to the masses. Ben worked closely with us on the design of his Mustang, with new pickups, simplified controls, and a roped off bridge to create a super solid, roadworthy instrument. “
